More Photography :)

So after the recent changes in my life I think I'm settling on a name for in case I ever make it as a photographer.  Dragonfly's represent change. This is a huge change in my life. And as I take pictures for others I most likely will be capturing events, people, places and times that might be changing their lives. Who knows :) But that is why I have thought of the dragonfly. And to make it Dragonfly's Dream is because Photography is my dream. I hope to one day be able to follow through with that dream. So there is how I picked the name for my photography business.

My mom bought duckies :) and yes the one in the front sort of has half an afro

I am still learning new things about myself everyday

This little guy sat a while and let me take pictures of him for a longs time.

I took these photos of roses. Can you believe these roses were actually being thrown away at work. Once I doctored them up they look fresh lol. Men buy some beautiful flowers for the girl/woman you love, and don't have a reason to do it.

Some older photos I took but just barely got around to editing

Hope you enjoy this little update :) Also please go to my Facebook and vote for which photos you would like to see in my portfolio :) And please COMMENT on them, because if you just like them I wont know what was liked recently and was was liked before. Thanks everyone! Love ya all!

Dragonfly

Dragonfly
This dragonfly spent a lot of time letting me take pictures. He stood still and didn't care how close I got him as long as I didn't touch him.  If he flew away for some reason I had to tell him to get back here he would loop back and land right where he was before.

This little friend of mine made me think about things. Mostly because, my mom told me maybe this little one knew me in another life. Then she asked what a dragonfly symbolizes.  I thought about that for a minute... I honestly didn't know. So, I had to look it up.

Dragonflies represent:
  • Change and change in the perspective of self realization
  • Maturity and a Depth of character
  • Power and Poise
  • Defeat of Self Created Illusions
  • Focus on living ‘IN’ the moment
  • The opening of one’s eyes
Once reading these things and the descriptions that were with them and I realized how they apply to my life. My life has been undergoing some extreme change.  Change is not necessarily bad. There is so much more meaning behind this that I don't know how to put it into words. The change in my life is for the better but it is going to be hard and take time to be able to handle it, but this little dragonfly gives me hope.  It will take a lot of strength but I have to be strong to survive.

Thank you to all those that have been here to help me threw this time. I love you all!

To Brenton
Ich liebe dich, mein Teufel. Fur immer und ewig.
Aber du hattest Recht dies am besten.
Am besten fur eine gluckliche Zukunft.
Ich werde dich immer lieben.
Liebe,
Dein Gummibar

Yeah I know... I really suck at this whole daily challenge thing... Life just seems so busy. I normally sleep until I get up, then get ready for work. After work I either hang out with some friends or I go home and try to sleep. I will try to post what I can tomorrow on my day off. Time for work. Thanks everyone grit your patience.

Avocado Idea From the Amazing Arianne :)

So, my super amazing sister-in-law is teaching me how to start growing avocado trees.  They will probably never get any avocados on them, because of the climate here in Utah.  Well I started mine today and wanted to tell you about my experiment.

Start with the avocados. I ate mine and they were delicious! Ok after you eat your tasty fruit (which it really is not a vegetable) you rinse off your avocado pits. Sit them in the window to dry for about a day.
The next day get three glass jars and get your seeds.

Stick 3 or 4 tooth picks in them.  Preferably at an angle in order so you don't have to fill the jars very full.  Make sure that the point part is up.

Fill them with water to cover a little bit of the bottom of the pit.

Now there are a couple ways you can do this.
    • Let the pit soak a few days then peel the pit.
    • Peel the pit all of the way
    • Peel just the bottom of the pit
(in my experiment I have one completely peeled, one only peeled at the bottom and then one soaking for a few days before I peel)

Try to let your future trees get sun :)

Then wait. (This is the step I am at.)

    Then wait some more

    And continue to wait :)
(I love this shot and this fun, silly cat)

My sister, Arianne, said that she had to wait at least a month to even notice a change in hers.
Because I am just starting this experiment you will have to stay tuned in order to find out which three will grow best. I am so excited for these :)

If you try your own experiment then leave me comments on how you may have found an easier solution, something worked better and/or grew better, and also anything else you would like to say :)

    Update July 11, 2011

This post is about a few things that I've done since moving back in with my parents.

I have started to learn to love myself for who I am.
I am a beautiful, strong, sweet, loveable,
young woman who deserves the best in this world. :D

I can see beauty in everything almost.
This was one of the most beautiful moments I've
seen in a long time. It was raining during the sunset.

Got some great shots of an emu

Did you know the feather of an emu has two feathers
    coming from one stem :)

Ari and I were not sure if this was a goose or a weird duck

Ari bugging a lama, hoping he doesn't spit on her.
    I really like this shot.

... A church across the street from another church....
    ?

Pierced my ears again for my birthday :D

     Bought new cute shoes.

Thought this was cool. (kind of hard to see)
At a family BBQ and the 2 liter bottle left this behind.
    Looks like a flower :)
I watch every sunset that I am available
for and not at work during :)

I bought myself a mini fridge so that my
parents don't have to buy everything for me
and so that I have drinks for lunches
(and so that Ryan doesn't drink them all and they aren't
all gone by the time I get home)
I just thought this was a funny sign.

Cuddle with Gizzmo all the time since
she lounges in my room all the time.
Such a spoiled, silly, and lazy kitty.

Ryan, my little brother, was cooking bacon.
Got a little too crispy too quick but
was fun to try with him.

I also got a job at Walmart in the produce department. I like it.

Well that is everything I can think of right now :)
Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did experiencing them :)

    What a Mess!

Well I was playing around on this hoping to find something I like. It is getting too late and I'm getting to tired.
So I will fix the design as soon as possible. I will also try and add more blogs and pictures of what I've been up to.

    Life Goes On.

I know I haven't done well at keeping this up to date, but everything in life is changing and moving forward so quickly. Well to get you all caught up here is the gist of what has changed.

Brenton and I are getting a divorce. I will always love him and we will continue to be friends.

I have moved back in with my parents.

I have started working at Walmart in the produce department.

I haven't had time or even the courage to do much photography. It's really hard when all you have is the camera on your phone and basic free software to edit pictures. Plus I need more practice.
So far that is everything I can think of that has changed since my last blog. Now you may see why I have not had any more posts. Life is changing all around me and I accept it. So if I don't post anything for a while, you understand.

Please don't hesitate to email me you have any thoughts or questions. My email address is shaypay2005@gmail.com

Thank you to everyone that has been here for me threw everything. I love you all.

    Amateur or Professional Photographer?

Wikipedia describes an amateur photographer as one who takes photographs for pleasure and to record an event, emotion, place, or person. They also describe a professional photographer as one who uses photography to earn money. Well then what do you consider one who takes pictures for pleasure, events, emotions, places, or people while earning money? I ask, because my dream job is to earn money while taking pictures. I love taking photographs! It is my favorite thing to do! I also have two Career Certificates. One in the Commercial Photography and the other in Digital Photography. These are some pics I have recently been working on. What do you think?  And do you have any tips on how to make photography my profession? I could really use some advice!

Thank you all who took some time to view these photos and thanks to all those that leave comments or advise!
